Beat Boards

Image
I colored some of the frames so i could get an idea as to what it would like colored. Looking at them I think I can see more of what i want to change and add. i also think I'll mess around with their skin tones a bit more.

Animation Progress: Audio Added

I have mostly been working on getting in between frames in and adding some details that other frames were missing. Though I also added some background copyright free music that I felt would be fitting. If possible I'm hoping I can edit in the future so it syncs up with the animation better.

Progress Made

So I've finally gotten to the end, kinda. I got the montage done and half of the hand scene, which I'm rotoscoping ever so slightly. I'm gonna work to make some of the movements look a little smoother and add audio.

Animation Progress

Now that I have the figures done for the key frames I've started adding more detail, specifically the characters expressions since I felt that they would be very important for conveying the scene. In adding them I feel a bit more confident. I'm going to start adding more details and improve some the existing expressions so that they fit the scene better.

More Backgrounds

Image
I have made a few more backgrounds for the animation. Keeping them simple and a bit sketchy so I can possibly add more detail in the future. I've also kept them relatively in the same color palette so the scenes hopefully don't feel to disconnected. The balcony background is pretty much just a different angle of the other balcony I drew. The banners background is for the throne room, because I felt that just a simple blank background wouldn't be very fitting for the throne room scene.

Progress

Now I've gotten a good bit of in-between frames done in this section. I've also come to the conclusion that i'm probably going to settle on this section. There's only a bit left for me to finish up on the anatomy and once that's done I'm going to work on getting the details in and then the lining and flat coloring. I've also have gotten some progress on the backgrounds done, which I have inserted into the video. I kinda like them so I might keep those and just add more detail to them later.

Background Work (that I kept forgetting)

Image
In my hubris of losing myself in anatomy, I forgot to work on backgrounds. In my process its always been something I put off but I am starting to realize thats probably not the best thing to do in this case. I also realized that unlike the figures I don't have to redraw the background a million times. So I started to draw up some simple backgrounds, they're kind of a mix of concept and just placeholder. What i'm thinking I'll do is draw them up like this and later on add more detail. I wanna add things like textures but considering my time frame I might have to keep them simple.   In the end though I want to have a background for each scene and have all of the, be unique. However if I have to I might reuse some like the windows one because there some scenes that are in a similar setting.

Intro Progress

I have made progress on the animation, but it's mostly all in the intro. In that par  I have been focusing on getting the characters animation and posing to near finished point. As this will give me a good base go of off when drawing in all of the frames. Once all of this is done I plan on sketching out backgrounds and making more in-between frames.

The Beginning: Storyboard

This is a very rough storyboard for the beginning of my animation. It introduces our characters and starts the interaction between the princess and guard.

Designs

Image
I'm still not fully sure about the designs of the princess and knight but there are a few details that I am sure of. I want the princess to be somewhat dainty and princess like, wearing finer clothes and possibly a crown. The knight would be much bigger and bulkier, encompassing everything as a big strong knight.

Mood Board

Image
I had a few images in mind for my animation. One being a distinct fantasy world, in which the architecture and technology was like that of a Tolkien world. Two, there would be a distinct volcanic  and fire motif. The architecture of the world would really reflect this, buildings would be made of black rock and would red glowing stones decorating it. The world itself and the fauna would also be volcanic in nature, although it wouldn't be all that realistic. Magic and fiction would come into play.   The characters would be distinctly demonic beings. They would be humanoid, but each characters appearance would vary. Some may be more demonic and others would be more human. I want the princess to have more of a human princess while her knight has a more monstrous demonic appearance.

Pitch

The story will focus on a demon princess and her knight. It would start peacefully with the two getting to know each other and flirting. For this scene it might just be them meeting for the first time, with the princess immediately having a small crush on the knight.  It would then shift to a battle scene in which the battle is almost over.    The knight would be bloody and appear to be in a losing battle. At this point the princess would step up, transforming into a demonic monster so she can protect her knight. In this world their species can use magic but the royal family possesses the greatest of said powers. Once the fight is over the two embrace. The story ends withe princess helping the other get patched up.

Animation Pitches

In a fantasy world a kingdom comprised of demons exists in relative peace and prosperity. There are two places I'm considering taking this scenario. 1. Love blooms between the kingdoms princess and a knight. Things start to become turbulent when another kingdom declares war on the kingdom. 2.The knight and the princess go out on a leisurely date in which the two get to know each other. In both scenarios the animation would focus on the knights and princesses relationship. While one might deal more with drama and sorrow it would still have more to do with the emotion and joy that comes with the two coming together.
